Cookie Policy

Version: 2026-05-17-v1 · Effective Date: May 17, 2026

This policy explains cookies used by EarningIt.co, all Tenant subdomains, and any third-party website where a Tenant has deployed the EarningIt tracking script.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. We also use localStorage for referral attribution when cookies are unavailable. Neither stores financial data or passwords.

2. Cookies Set by EarningIt.co

auth-token

Type: Strictly Necessary  ·  Duration: Session

Purpose: Authenticates your logged-in session. HTTP-only and Secure — inaccessible via JavaScript. Required for the Platform to function. No consent required under ePrivacy Directive strictly-necessary exception.

ref (referral attribution)

Type: Functional Attribution  ·  Duration: 1–90 days (set by program's cookie duration, default 30 days)

Purpose: Stores the affiliateref code of the clicked referral link so a conversion can be attributed if the user signs up within the cookie window.

Data stored: Referral code string only. No personal data.

3. The EarningIt Tracking Script

Tenants embed earningit-tracker.js on their websites. When an end user arrives via a referral link, this script:

  1. Reads the ?ref=REFERRAL_CODE URL parameter.
  2. Stores the referral code in a first-party cookie and/or localStorage scoped to the Tenant's domain.
  3. On conversion, sends a conversion event to EarningIt's API including the referral code and conversion data the Tenant provides (e.g., email, plan type).
  4. Logs a click event on EarningIt's servers: timestamp, IP address, user agent, referrer URL, and referral code. Used for fraud detection and commission attribution.

What the script does NOT do: It does not record keystrokes, form content beyond what the Tenant explicitly passes, browsing history outside the Tenant's domain, or any financial data. All cookies are first-party relative to the Tenant's domain.

4. Cookie Consent on Tenant Websites

Under the EU ePrivacy Directive and GDPR, non-strictly-necessary cookies require prior informed consent. Tenants must ensure their privacy notices disclose this tracking and, for EU/UK visitors, obtain appropriate consent before the tracking script fires. EarningIt provides documentation to help Tenants meet this obligation.

5. How to Control Cookies

Disabling cookies in your browser will prevent login persistence (auth-token) and affiliate attribution (ref). Attribution failure does not affect your browsing experience.

6. localStorage Usage

The tracking script may also store the referral code in localStorage for redundancy when cookies are blocked. Only the referral code string is stored — no personal data.
